This is one of the final paintings I worked on as I approached the collection piece.  One of the great aspects of a moorland for me (with sheep grazing) is the contrast between the rough heather and that strange manufactured looking grass where the sheep have grazed it so consistantly it looks more like a putting green. When the two are put together they compliment each other well. So what appears at first to be a wild untamed landscape, is to a degree shaped by man, in the form of sheep.
