Many of my original sketches for this painting concentrated on the oxbo lake. This is a geographical feature I’ve always enjoyed, it gives a sense of time and scale to the present moment. The painting ended up being based on a stretch of The Tweed that I know. It became more about the river as a whole, the steeply eroded banks, the vally it flows down, it’s size, it’s pace. There will be more to come with this subject.
