I have revisited my Beech wood studies over the winter.   This particular landscape watercolour painting is based on Leatah Wood, here in Northumberland.  I have always been drawn towards Forrest’s and woods and have had the privilege to study many up and down the country.  To have a closer look at these artworks please visit our beech wood series in the print section of this site.

Royal Society of British Artists

Winner : A&K Wilson Award 2010

I’ve recently had one of my Silver Birch Uberpaintings accepted into the Royal Society of British Artists 293rd Annual Art Exhibition, at the renown Mall Galleries in London.

I am also proud to announce that I am the recipient of the A&K Wilson Award.  It would appear that gallery owner, Andrew Wilson was rather taken with my work, he said ” every gallery looks for new and fresh work to present to their clients and Matt’s paintings are all one of a kind”.  the prise money is most welcome but more importantly the A&K Wilson Gallery has offered me a solo show of my new art work at their Hertfordshire gallery this coming May.  I will be exhibiting 30 new original watercolours, the biggest grouping of my work in the South east of England since the Affordable Art Show in Battersea 2009.
