MJ Forster has had his work accepted into the 2009 Royal Watercolour Society Exhibition in association with The Times Newspapers to be held at London’s Bankside Gallery from 9th - 20th September this year.
The exhibition is sponsored by The Times Newspapers in association with the Royal Watercolour Society. Matt’s original self styled ‘Überpainting’ was selected from over 900 entries and is in the running for the overall £22,500 prize money.
The first and only competition Matt has entered prior to this was the 2008 A1 Open Summer Art Exhibition based at The Station in Richmond, North Yorkshire. Matt claimed first place alongside the £2,500 prize money for his watercolour ‘Storm Light’.
Matt who paints from his studio gallery in Back Street (St Mary’s Chare), Hexham is delighted to have his work accepted. He says “this is an acknowledgment from the art establishment that the 21st Century Überpaintings I’m working on have credibility on an academic/progressive level”.
The painting titled ‘The Western Isles’ is part of a wider body of work entitled ÜberBritain which depicts 16 regional scenes from across the UK and is launching nationwide this summer. The winner will be announced in The Sunday Times in August.
